His Eminence the 7th Dzogchen Rinpoche

His Eminence Dzogchen Rinpoche

His Eminence Dzogchen Rinpoche, Jigme Losel Wangpo, was born in 1964 in the Himalayan kingdom of Sikkim, a sacred land blessed by Guru Rinpoche, the second Buddha, during the ninth century. Recognized by His Holiness Dodrupchen Rinpoche as the seventh incarnation of Pema Rigdzin, the great Dzogchen lineage holder, Dzogchen Rinpoche was enthroned in Sikkim’s Royal Palace in Gangtok on the 8th of October 1972.

His father Tsewang Paljor, an accomplished spiritual practitioner, was the nephew and respected secretary of the renowned Rime master, Jamyang Khyentse Chokyi Lodro. His mother is Tsering Wangmo, whose family the Lakar Tsang, are recognized in Tibet and India for their noble generosity in the support of the dharma. As a young tulku, Rinpoche studied near His Holiness Dodrupchen Rinpoche at the Nyingma Shedra in Sikkim, before heading to Dharamsala at the invitation of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, to study under his guidance at the Buddhist School of Dialectics. Having mastered many of the great texts of Tibetan Buddhism, Rinpoche obtained the title of Rabjampa [Masters of Tibetan Buddhism] at only 19 years of age. Aged 21, Rinpoche took full responsibility of Dzogchen Monastery, re-established in South India.

In 1995, Rinpoche founded Dzogchen Shri Senha Charitable Society (DSSCS) to preserve the ancient Tibetan culture and to support the welfare of Tibetans in exile. DSSCS works together with the local community in a number of projects, including the provision of healthcare clinics, educational facilities and various infrastructural development projects.

Since 2002, under Rinpoche’s guidance, a group of his dedicated students have established Shenpen, an international network of organizations under DSSCS in America, Australia and Europe. Shenpen supports the spiritual and charitable projects of Dzogchen Rinpoche and hosts his international teaching tours. For more than three decades, His Eminence Dzogchen Rinpoche has shared his wisdom with audiences around the world and is revered for his prominent role in expounding the profound Dzogchen teachings, making them accessible to all.

Love Free From Doubt

We often enter into relationships with the hope that someone else will make us happy but in return we give love conditionally. When love is based on reason and our expectations are not met, we gradually become dissatisfied, doubting ourselves and our relationships.

Ancient wisdom traditions teach that all suffering comes by thinking only of ourselves and when we put others first in our thoughts and actions, our relationships will bring genuine fulfilment. Dzogchen Rinpoche will explain that when we practice the four immeasurables of loving kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity we can experience unconditional love.

Recognizing Genuine Love

When we view ourselves as separate from others our love is limited. We consider our love to be genuine but being selective and based in attachment, it is restricted only to those who are close to us.

Pure love does not discriminate even when someone has harmed us. Compassion and kindness for all is the ultimate healer, when we think of others we are automatically included. Dzogchen Rinpoche will explain that through the practice of bodhicitta, the wish to attain enlightenment for all beings, we can recognize and experience genuine love.
